About the trumpet

The trumpet is a Vincent Bach Stradivarius 37, made in Elkhart, Indiana. I have had it since it was new (and I was a lot newer), in 1977. Playing it, with friends or by myself, brings me great satisfaction.

In April 2013 I decided that after 36 years I was ready to buy a second instrument. In addition to my Bach Strad, I now play a Kanstul 905 pocket trumpet. A pocket trumpet is pitched just like a regular trumpet, but the pipes are wrapped more compactly. If you see me at a philosophy conference somewhere, this will be the horn I have with me! See the "Music" tab for a link to a video of Don Cherry playing one.
